Our Junior Entrepreneurs Face 'The Dragons'!

6th Mar 2017

Today Primary 7 welcomed three very special visitors into their classroom- 'The Dragons'! The panel consisted of Mrs Clarke, our school principal; Gloria Bruce, our local business woman from The Diamond Bakery; and Mr Gary Lee, chairman of our Board of Governors.

Over the past couple of weeks,  all children had pitched a business idea to the rest of the class. Children were then arranged into groups where they analysed the strengths and weaknesses of each individual idea. Collectively, they agreed on a sole idea which they would research and create a 'pitch' for.

Warmly welcomed by the 'Dragon's Den' theme tune, our Dragons took their seats. With the visual support of a PowerPoint presentation, each group pitched their idea to our panel of judges. The judges scored each group on specific criteria and then questioned each group to test the strength of each business idea!

The four proposed business ideas were: a bingo night, a car wash with coffee morning, chill pills for parents and a whole-school CD.

Once all presentations had been made, and all questions asked, our Dragons took five minutes to discuss which business idea they were most in favour of. After careful deliberation, the Dragons announced that the idea they wished to recommend was the whole school CD! However, they were so impressed with the other three pitches that they decided all ideas should be developed and implemented during the school year!

Mrs Porter and Primary 7 would like to say a massive thank you to our Dragon's for taking time out of their busy schedules to judge our pitches and for giving such constructive feedback!
