Harvest Tidy-up!

29th Sep 2016

As Autumn sets in, Primary 6/7 together with Mrs Moore, Mrs Porter and a group of hard-working parents set to work in the school garden and wider grounds to prepare for the imminent arrival of Winter. Last Spring saw all classes plant an array of vegetables and flowers, utilising our greenhouse, raised beds and other outside areas. We were amazed at our harvest and very proud of what we had grown from tiny seeds! On Friday we harvested beetroot, parsnips, carrots, spring onions, potatoes, bell peppers and courgettes.

Last term, Miss Kyle's Primary 2/3 class had planted their sunflowers outside. These continued to grow throughout the Summer and provided a beautiful display for everyone to see! A group of P6 girls worked tirelessly on Friday to remove the seeds from these giant flowers so they can be dried out and replanted in the Springtime!

As well as harvesting our produce, groups of children worked industriously to collect leaves for layering on our raised beds while the willow tunnel and bedding plants received a much needed trim!

A huge thank-you to all involved!
