Unicef Day For Change

25th May 2017

On Wednesday 24th May, 2017 we all came to school dressed in blue in support of the Unicef day For Change. We had a special whole school assembly, where Mrs Moore shared a powerpoint with information about children in the world who suffer from malnutrition. We were amazed at the way babies and young children are weighed and checked for signs of mal-nutrition. Primary 3 and 4 boys and girls were able to say that through their Roots of Empathy work, they have never seen Maureen check on how well baby Leah is developing, by using an arm measurement. The dvd clips and images of children in African countries were fascinating too. All donations for non-uniform today will be sent to support the UNICEF charity and help provide food for people much less fortunate than ourselves. In our classes we thought about what we hope for the children of the world. We had a very enjoyable Unicef Day and are confident in the knowledge that the money raised from our non-uniform day will go some way to supporting malnourished children throughout the world.

Article 24 Is one of the important rights that we were thinking about in school today. 'Every child has the right to the best health care possible, safe water to drink, nutritious food, a clean and safe environment and information to help you stay alive.'
